Balenciaga issues 'fully destroyed' sneakers for $1,850

CRANSTON, R.I. (TND) — Balenciaga has issued what they described as a “fully destroyed” pair of sneakers for $1,850 per pair.

The high-fashion company will soon be selling the "Balenciaga Paris Sneaker" online.

A limited edition of 100 pairs of these extra destroyed sneakers will be available on balenciaga.com in either black or white while supplies last,” according to the website.

But no matter the shade, each set has been designed to appear extensively worn and dirty.

The tattered kicks also looked ripped.

It is finished with distressed canvas and rough edges, affecting a pre-worn look,” the website notes.

The website also includes multiple photos of the shoe.

These still life portraits, by photographer Leopold Duchemin, suggest that Paris Sneakers are meant to be worn for a lifetime.”

The sneaker comes in lace-up styles, either high-top or backless mule.

The product details list the following:

  • Sneaker
  • Rippings all over the fabric
  • Balenciaga logo printed at the edge of the toe
  • Balenciaga graffiti logo in color contrast on sole
  • Embossed size at the back

Social media users took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the footwear.

"Balenciaga is releasing a new pair of shoes, and I have to assume they are just trolling people at this point," wrote Joe Pompliano.

At least two other distressed looks are available in black and red.

They include the "Paris High Top Sneaker" for $625, and the "Paris Sneaker Mule" for $495.
